Apologies for falling off my weekly posting cadence. It has been a busy few weeks!
That being said, I am incredibly excited to announce that I have accepted a position with the Denver Broncos to spend the upcoming NFL season (through the Draft) in their Football Administration Department, where I’ll be helping out with all things Salary Cap and contract negotiations and more.
I’d like to thank the entire Broncos Front Office, and especially Rich Hurtado and Rob Simpson for the opportunity to get my foot in the door in the NFL. I’m beyond excited to get to Denver. The hard work has only just begun and I look forward to doing my part to help build a high quality roster over the next several months.
Working in an NFL Front Office has been a lifelong dream for me, and one that I have pursued in earnest since Middle School, when I would make YouTube videos analyzing the NFL Draft:
Those draft videos continued through High School and College, where I expanded on my passion for football through writing about it in my school newspapers.
Even while working in Finance, football is what consumed most my (albeit limited) free time. Much like when I was a kid, I eagerly waited for NFL Draft Weekend to arrive and continued to attend Training Camp, excited for the season to begin.
I specifically chose to attend MIT Sloan for business school so I could work on the Sports Analytics Conference, because of the opportunity I thought it would provide me to transition into sports from Investment Banking. Needless to say, I am beyond excited that it aided in that career change.
There are so many people to thank for helping me get to this point. First and foremost, my family and girlfriend who encouraged me to pursue my passion in earnest, even if the process took a while. Also to all my friends from various walks of life who did the same. These relationships, along with football, are what bring me the most joy in life.
I’d also like to thank my colleagues from my career in Finance, especially at Morgan Partners, as well as at MIT Sloan and SSAC for helping me develop the skills that I believe will allow me to succeed in the NFL.
Lastly, I wanted to thank the countless folks across the NFL and the football community who took the time to meet and speak with me as I looked to break into the league. It would not have happened without the advice I received in these conversations and discussions.
A few folks I’d especially like to thank are Russ Ball of the Packers, Kevin Demoff of the Rams, Thomas Dimitroff with SumerSports, Mike Greenberg of the Buccaneers, John Park of the Cowboys, and Jake Rosenberg formerly of the Eagles (now with The Athlete Group). That list isn’t even close to exhaustive, and I hope to see many of the folks I’ve spoken with over the past year in-person this season.
I also want to thank all of you who have read my blog over the past several months. Sharing my passion for sports, and especially football, with you has brought me immense joy, and writing these posts were often the highlight of my week.
Obviously, I won’t be able to write about football for at least the next several months, and thus will only be posting infrequently, if at all. I’m not sure exactly what the future holds for this blog, but I appreciate all of you who have been along for the ride.
Thanks again to the Denver Front Office for this incredible opportunity. I cannot wait to get started next week. Go Broncos!
Congratulations Gaurav! Wishing you the best.
